How can we distinguish a custom bike to a Reimagine bike?
Many people have asked me this question. Most cyclists would have heard of custom or bespoke bike builds.
This is where a bicycle is designed and built specifically for a client, tailoring to the rider’s requirements. The design can be one of the general types of cycles that are available, such as Road race bikes, Cyclo-cross bikes, Gravel bikes, Audax bikes, Touring bikes, Commuter bikes, Leisure bikes and Hybrid bikes or even an eBike to name but a few (MTB, BMX and others can naturally be custom made too!).
So what is a Reimagine bike? These bikes are where we at eZo cycle had an idea to build a known stock frameset or bike and assemble the bike up with different components, wheelsets or groupset.
Meaning that the bike will become slightly, subtly or outrageously different to it’s original stock build. This is our interpretation of the bike whether it is a big brand, rare brand or little known brand.
This provides our customers with an alternative to the original bike that is available, which then makes the Reimagine bike a unique build for that particular frame.
We always start with the frameset
eZo cycle is always looking on the market to see which frameset to choose next to be included in the Reimagine bike range. Currently we tend to work more with steel frames, but this is more because of a love for steel at eZo cycle, we can and do build for aluminium or carbon framesets too. Obviously it is difficult to be building with the very latest framesets as usually brand manufacturers tend not to release their latest or best selling bikes as framesets only. Although some brands do offer framesets only to allow such a purpose to consumers.
eZo cycle can step into this and either do an alternative build as a Reimagine bike range and sell directly on this website, or we could do a custom build for a client if they already know what they want.
After the frame, the next big question is usually the groupset as this is a big part of the cost of the bike next to the frameset, Shimano, SRAM, FSA, Campagnolo or others would be considered carefully and reasoned through before we decide on which groupset to put on. Depends on the use of the bike, likely purpose of a bike and sometimes weight.
Next is the wheels, which actually can be the highest cost to the bike, but there are so many options and can always find a set that is to purpose, weight, strength or cost.
These days, extra considerations such as rim or disc brakes are also common contemporary decisions as they can alter the purpose or feel of the bike.
Lastly, the components such as seat post, saddle, handlebars, stem, etc are thought of to finish the look and feel or the bike. Sometimes we would also consider adding mudguards or racks to complete the function of the bike, particularly if clients requested them.
Reimagine bike will revolutionise the cycle market
That statement is rather exaggerated, but we build the Reimagine bike range to give consumers a unique alternative to the stock bikes available to them on the market, usually with upgraded components at similar price to the stock bike available. eZo cycle’s Reimagine bike range is not about revolution, it is about giving an unique alternative to consumers.
