eZo Cycle has had a very busy time during Nov/Dec 2016, so apologies for not posting regularly. Will try to improve on that more this year.
2016 has been a superb time for eZo Cycle, we have gained so much with more and more suppliers starting to work with us, the online shop is starting to bulk out more with very good and exciting products as well as bikes. Personally, we have been working hard on our home as well as eZo Cycle. After the extension was completed we were busy working on decorating and refurbishing the office connected to the workshop. Now all done, we are putting more and more effort into the eZo business.
2016 Trade shows (such as CoreBike, IceBike, BikePlace and Bespoked) has further opened my eyes and mouth at how the industry is trying to innovate and generate more of the cycling industry and community. I still see there is a gap between cycle distributors and grassroot cycling. The public is growing more knowledgeable of how specific bikes can be, but are also very weary of costs. After the Brexit vote, it does seem the industry is following the economy a little and even big players like Halford’s and Brompton are suffering. It may not be wholly the result of Brexit but it certainly has become a factor for this industry.
But for eZo Cycle, it has been a year of growth, nothing massive, but is a welcome growth. There has been set backs, many suppliers does not see my small business to be worthy of trade accounts, which has impacted on our ability to build more reimagined bikes to sell. However some other suppliers has been very helpful to eZo Cycle and consequently their products has been featured and subsquently sold.
It is not easy for corporate style distributors to put faith into small tiny businesses such as eZo Cycle, but personally I believe if they allowed us access to their catalogue of products and services, it could proof to be a good line of revenue for them.
So what plans does eZo Cycle have for 2017?
Well, to kick off we will be going to more trade shows this year and try to work with more manufacturers and distributors. We want to build more Reimagine bikes and even try out some custom builds too. The webshop will increase in size and offer more and more products that are useful and desirable as a cyclist.
We want to start focussing on women cycling too, and try to offer products that are more purposeful for women.
Plans are in place to get eZo Cycle mobile, we are about to get a work van (eZo van) and get out and about to help cyclists with any issues they have. Give us a shout if you see us out and about.
Lastly, we are increasing our involvement with the local community by offering free bike checks to our local primary school to help the school ensure kids come into school to do their “bikeability” courses with a fully functioning bike.
Have a great New Year everyone.
