eZo Cycle Maintenance course
Over the winter months, I have been designing a cycle maintenance course to help cyclist gain confidence with tackling problems with their bikes when on a ride.
Since becoming a cycle mechanic. I often hear stories from riders about the times when they had issues with their bikes whilst on a ride. They tell me “if only I knew what to do with my multi tool” or “if only I knew how to fix a puncture”. It seems that cycle maintenance can also be a cause for reduced or limiting cycle use in UK. So I decided to create a new cycle maintenance course to help riders with just that.
There are other courses out there but they tend to require larger home tools, and often more focused on having the bike at home or in a workshop. eZo Cycle maintenance course is slightly different. Our course is designed to empower cyclists when they are out on a ride to tackle problems that could commonly occur.
What can a cyclist do to identify and fix an issue when out on a ride? Using some ride essentials, such as a multi tool, tyre levers, pump, inner tube/puncture repair kit or zip ties. One can fix many common issue and get back on their ride.
The course is designed to help riders before, during and after a ride.
Before: Bike check and road safety.
During: how to identify problems, how to stay safe and what to do with with brake and gear setup, punctures and repairs, multi tool selection and use.
After: Bike inspection, bike clean and lube.
The course is very hands on everyone will get the chance to try things out with their bike. We will provide multi tools, tyre levers and pumps for participants to use. Coffee/tea and biscuits will also be provided. So we will have a break half way to share cycling adventures and general chit chat.
Courses will start in Coventry in March 2018, with plans to be at least once a month possibly more often.
